Social ResponsibilityThe Processing Facility has been an integral part of the community of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield since 1963. Through its generous contributions, the Processing Facility and its employees are committed to improving the quality of life for the local community.
The Processing Facility believes its activities should contribute to the well-being of the community. In addition to contributing to the regionís economy, it supports several organizations involved in community and social development, health, environment, job creation, art and culture, and education and sports.
The Processing Facility also supports several employees who donate their time by volunteering as board members of many community organizations, and help organize different activities for the community and its employees.
In 1996, an awareness committee was created in order to improve communications with the community. Today, it comprises 15 members ten of whom represent various stakeholders in the community, while the other five represent industrial "neighbours" of the Processing Facility, such as industries, institutions, as well as agriculture and ordinary citizens.
|In 1996, the Processing Facility spent about $1 million for site reclamation and landscaping to cover a jarosite pond. Today, the entire community enjoys "Parc des batisseurs", a recreational area surrounded by a bicycle path.|
